My factory alternator is about dead and I was thinking about replacing the alternator with a higher output one. What would be a correct fitment alternator with a good price? Is there a huge advantage for replacing one with a lot larger amps? Thanks.

1986 Chevy Regular cab with 7.5 ' Diamond blade (4 RETURN SPRINGS). The truck has an new automatic transmission that was installed 1/09 by Southern Tier Transmission. It has a wooden flat bed. The plow in hydro/electric, one of the plow cylinders was rebuilt last week. The truck is a 6.2 Diesel that has recently had new glow plugs, relay, oil change, fuel filter replaced, new belts, starter, alternator, 2 batteries as well as lower radiator hose. Compression was tested while work was done, and every thing checked out. The radiator is 2 yrs old and a new block heater was installed last month. The tires are in good shape allot of tread left, they are 33 x 12.5. The floor had a whole around the transfer case lever that was repaired with sheet metal. The body and frame of the truck are solid a few rust spots in the usual places. The truck is inspected until 1/11 it is currently licensed and used to plow 10 driveways. 4x4 works fine. The fuel gage does not work however, all other gages work adequately mileage reads 80k stopped before I bought it. I have had all work professionally done at Fleet Source Diesel and Teeds Auto. I am selling because I have located a plow for another truck and will not need this one anymore. The truck is old and well used but has been very well taken care of during my time owning it.
