Contractors from across the country got The Big Picture at ACCA’s 42nd Annual Conference and Indoor Air Expo, held in Tampa, Fla., in early March. The three-day event featured timely educational seminars, relevant general sessions, and a productive expo hall experience. The Indoor Air Expo was again co-sponsored by the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), which also held its 13th annual meeting at the same time. More than 2,000 people attended this year’s expo, which contained more than 260 booths.
“I have heard many great things about the magic that happened this week,” said Paul Stalknecht, president and CEO of ACCA, at the conclusion of the event. “We can always expect great things when we gather ACCA contractors together, and this Big Picture event has exceeded expectations.”
During the opening session, outgoing chairman Stan Johnson said, “Being a visionary doesn’t mean just seeing the Big Picture — it means creating the Big Picture. You must recognize that the Big Picture isn’t just something that happens, it’s something you help create. And that’s what the 2010 ACCA Conference is all about.”
NEW LEADERS
The outgoing ACCA board of directors passed the proverbial gavel to the 2010-11 leadership during the conference, welcoming the new team to what is sure to be a busy and productive year. Johnson turned over the top spot to incoming chair John Sedine.
Sedine brings with him a powerful lineup of officers: Joe Nichter, Tommy Castellano, Dave Kyle, and Mark Swepston as vice chairmen; Bobby Ring as secretary; Laura DiFilippo as treasurer; and Ray Isaac as chair of the advisory council. Johnson, of course, will stay onboard as immediate past chairman.
The ACCA membership also brought two new players to the game as well: Don Millard, Bel Red Heating and Air Conditioning, Mukilteo, Wash., and Bob Champe from Shearer Heating and Air Conditioning, Washington, Pa. Under the recently approved amendments to the constitution and bylaws, these men will serve on the board for two years instead of one.
